Here Lies My Beloved Stiggy

Here lies Fatty....
Who lead a happy life till the end.
The apple of the owner's eye.
And now in the grave he lies....

The last photo of Fatty before we wrap him up for his "furneral". He died peacefully in his sleep on 06 May 2008. The owner came back home with lotsa newly brought treats, but a pity he never have the chance to try as he never did wake up.

The house is empty without him around. RIP Stiggy.

It was so sudden. Just the night before, I was still playing with him and disturbing him until he fed up. Then yesterday when we came home, he laid sleeping there, never woke up again. :(

It's now a little awkward coming home without him greeting me. :(

Awww... Pam... =(

I totally understand your feelings... I used to have a sapphaire hamster called marshmallow. She was one of the best hamster I had ever had... Some times, I think we even have some heart to heart connection with one another.

She was so lovely that I totally broke down one night when I saw her lying dead on the food bowl. She was so old that her legs were almost disabled, she lost her fur and had those white things (cataracts?) in both her eyes which I think she was blind already (common in old aged hamsters). =(

I had a strong feeling that she will go away one day very soon... And I didn't want to. I love her too much. My heart had this feeling as if there was a huge rock inside. Painful and heavy... Every night my pillow would be soaked with tears before I fell asleep. I just want Marshmallow to be with me forever...

I think non-animal lovers will probably think I am crazy to be so deeply attached to a hamster or animals... Haha! But it is okay... This is just me... =)

Cheer up Pam... If Fatty sees you like this, he will definately give you an unexpected nip on your finger again. Hehe! =P

It can become a phobia, scared that my hammies will sleep and never woke up.

Of cos' to see Fatty died peacefully makes me feel comforted. A few of those passed-away hammies also died in their sleep and I'm happy for them, cos' it's less painful for them. Then of cos' there are a few which I kept vigilant over their last moments, that was the toughest. Because I see them lying there suffering and yet am helpless.

Though there is a void here at the moment, just need some time to get over it.
