SOS!

For some reasons, Scar does not like my room. He can be let loose in the living room and the master bedroom to enjoy running about. But when he comes to my room, he becomes panicky and he just wanted out.

Hmmm, I am also very worried about him scratching my furnitures... -__-"

Herbie's Gone

Our little Herbie passed away yesterday. (T_T) Had seen it coming because the day before when she came out for her dinner, her eyes seemed teary though she was still energetic. Yesterday, I knocked on her house and she didn't respond as usual. She was found motionless under the wheel in her extension cage (a place she seldom lingers in).

So sad. Now there won't be a little head popping out from the house whenever I knock. =(

Playing By 'Hamself'

These days, cleaning is not too daunting for the hammies anymore. Back then, they had to be confined in small tanks while we clean their cages which always led to panic attacks for them. Now, these two hammies have their own freedom to roam the living room while we 'maids' clean their cages.

See how Scar kept himself occupied while I was busy washing part of his cage in the bathroom. -__-" I was washing his ham-house while I caught him playing the merry-go-round through the mirror reflection. (oO)

Scar, what is the difference between a vertical wheel and a horizontal wheel? Just look at him, so enjoying....

A Miracle

It's like a whole month of period since we saw Herbie carrying her big lump. I was a little worried about her when I was out-stationed and the hams being under co-owner's care. However, to our surprises, a miracle happened.

Herbie managed to nurse herself back. The big lump at her belly reduced to just a 1/4 of the original size! We didn't do much of the treatment though. Wow, she is not called Herbivorous for no reason! My little Herbie at least feel more engergetic and now she is let loose to run freely in the room (previously I confined her to her cage). I hope she will have more good time with us.

Meanwhile, her recent photo (taken by handphone because co-owner refused to take out his SLR from his drybox!).

She's quite scrawny now. Eat much lesser, but at least she is still well.

The End Is Nearing

Both of us owners hate to feel this. The end is coming nearer and nearer each day for Herbie. :( Though she is still as adorable (albeit aged) and bubbly as usual, we can't help but sigh at her belly lump that has swelled to half her size. (T_T) Herbie is slightly irritated by the growth hindering her movement that makes her unable to climb up her cage grills anymore. But we will bring her out by transporting her through her food bowl. However, I have reservations of letting her walk around the floor now as I am very afraid of infection since the growth will be dragging on the ground surface.

We are bracing ourselves that both Herbie and Scar are at their old age stage, in the meantime to treasure our time with them while we can.

What In The World?

This is one article that I read in my local newspaper and this just shock me to the core. It's not about hamsters but it still relates to the rodent family. What makes me sick is the hobby: Decorating mice carcasses for showcase?

Though I would really like to immortalize all my RIP hammies, I don't think I can stomach this method. (x_x)

New Home Sweet Home

It has been quite a while for the hammies. I missed updating them and their funny attics. Now that we are down to only Herbie and Scar, we pretty much have more time for them and I think they love all the attention.

Last Friday, we finally brought them to the new Hamsty wing and it was really funny. Both of them displayed the fearful expression like they are being sent to somewhere bad. The air is different from the old house and the room was vast. Scar (the homing mouse) was let out to roam in the wide platform floor. The next thing we knew, he was scurrying back to his little cage. Watch the video below.

This video was the third attempt to let him roam about, but sadly he went straight back to his little cage without any exploration again. Can practically see that he was so afraid to touch on the unfamiliar ground. Herbie fared better. She scurried around half the area but decided that the most comfortable place is within the curtains. Needless to say, she refused to come out and pooped all over. =.=

The Hamsty room is currently being used as a storeroom for our stuff until our reno complete (hopefully a few more weeks). In the meantime, we have bought a table from Ikea to put their cages on. Hope things are starting to shape up soon.

It should be joyous for us to finally announce the new Hamsty wing has arrived but then again, we have been telling the hammies since those in the first generation until now. Sadly, only Herbie and Scar live to see the move and by now they are aged. If only all our hammies could be here. I can picture Hermie curiously seeking every corner, Spritez being the runaway again, Hamlet and Baby Mott to do their moutain-climbing on the curtains, DLLG scaling the walls and Fatty aka Stiggy lazing around on the cushion, etc etc.

In Deep Thoughts

A few nights ago, I found Scar in this position for a long time, manage to capture a photo of him. This little twerp looks like he is in deep thoughts. Using his paw to support his head.
